John Deininger

An artist with a difficult last name to pronounce ("dine-ing-grrrr"), John has spent his life drawing a path towards a dream career: inspiring and educating children through picture books.  Not surprisingly, John’s own inspirations come from picture books too (artists like Lizbeth Zwerger, Robert McClosky, Alice Provensen, Steven Kellog, Alexis Deacon - to name a few of hundreds)!

John was a Kreilsheimer scholar at Cornish College of the Arts, where he studied illustration.  A member of SCBWI since 2004, he’s received local and national portfolio awards.  Currently working as a freelance artist, he lives in Seattle with his wife Jana, three cats, and the rain. He also might be spotted exploring the Northwest’s mountains and meadows.
