South Sound Network

SCBWI Western Washington’s new South Sound Network meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. at the Barnes & Noble in west Olympia (1530 Black Lake Blvd, SW, Olympia 98502). All are welcome. Organizer Kiki Hamilton appreciates it if you’ll alert us at scbwiwa@scbwi-washington.org if you’re planning to make it, so she knows how many to expect. Come and help the network get cracking!

The WWA SCBWI Northern Network wants to extend you an invitation to our March Schmooze. Because of the upcoming Annual WWA SCBWI Spring Conference, we will not be having a meeting in April, but will join together again in May.

How do you develop your story ideas? Whether you write novels or picture books, we invite you to come share your planning process. Our host, Rebecca, is a recent graduate of Vermont College’s MFA program : Writing for Children & Young Adults. We are sure to have a stimulating discussion.

What is a Schmooze?

A Schmooze is a gathering of children's writers and illustrators designed to share knowledge, great news, and companionship. They are free activities offered by the SCBWI WWA Bellingham Network. A Schmooze is a great place to meet local authors and illustrators - people like you who share your interests and goals. At a Schmooze, you'll have the chance to network, make friends, and get connected. Occasionally guest speakers will be featured at a Schmooze, but usually they are meetings that are structured around discussions about various topics of interest to children's writers and illustrators. A Schmooze is not a fix-it, nor is it a forum for critique, though critique groups can grow out of a Schmooze.
